Positioning for automotive success: Industry meets the innovators at upcoming conference
2010-05-10 07:52:06As the global automotive industry continues to recover, Canada’s automotive sector is poised to capitalize these new opportunities. To help plot the course, representatives from the country’s industry and research community will gather for four exciting days in June.
The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) and the AUTO21 Network of Centres of Excellence are joining forces to organize this powerhouse event designed to help Canadian automakers, parts suppliers, researchers and government representatives ensure they are able to embrace the changes and take advantage of the prospects.
The conference will take place June 7-10, 2010 at Caesars Windsor, in Canada’s motor city, Windsor, Ontario. More than 800 members of Canada’s automotive component supply industry and research community are expected to attend. The conference will feature a number of industry speakers providing insight and focus on upcoming automotive trends, emerging technologies and the role R&D plays in future success. Full conference information is available at www.apma.ca.
As Canada’s national automotive R&D program, AUTO21’s team of nearly 200 researchers and 350 student researchers works with 150 public and private sector companies to develop and commercialize leading automotive technologies. The joint conference between AUTO21 and the APMA will focus on how supplier companies can collaborate with the Canadian research community and the areas of technology that will provide the best opportunities for future success. AUTO21 is providing its student researchers additional conference programming to help them better understand their role within the global automotive sector.
“As our industry evolves, change is occurring at a rapid pace and competition continues to come from all parts of the world,” says Steve Rodgers, president, APMA. “The APMA partnership with AUTO21 is intended to lead Canadian suppliers to embrace and engage Canada’s research communities to help develop and design the leading edge products and processes that will carry the industry forward as the global economy revives.”
“The Canadian automotive sector has survived a difficult period, and its future outlook is being determined by the work of innovative companies and leading researchers today,” says Dr. Peter Frise, Scientific Director and CEO of AUTO21. “New technologies, new processes and new knowledge are quickly evolving the sector. We believe that R&D will help the sector rebound and contribute to Canada’s economic success.”
